“5SOS（ファイブ・ソス）”の愛称で知られる、オーストラリア・シドニー出身のポップ・パンク・バンド。グローバル累計ストリーミング数は100億回を超え、アルバム・セールスは1,800万以上を記録。大ヒット曲「She Looks So Perfect」「Youngblood」「Amnesia」は国境や世代を超えて愛されるアンセムとなり、US Billboard 200ではバンドとして史上唯一、デビューから3作連続で1位を獲得するという快挙を成し遂げている。
デビュー翌年の2015年には初来日を果たし、日本との絆を築いてきた5SOS。「Woke Up In Japan」や、日本でMVを撮影した「Youngblood」など、日本に縁のある楽曲も多く、たびたび日本のファンへの特別な想いを音楽で表現している。ルーク、カラム、マイケルの3人は同じ中学校の同級生。グリーン・デイやグッド・シャーロットに影響を受け、2011年にバンドを結成。人生初のライヴを行うためにドラマーを探していた際、Facebookで見つけたアシュトンを仲間に入れ、現在の形に。「AC/DCやイン・エクセスがオーストラリアから登場してブレイクしてから、随分長い年月が経っている。僕らは国を代表したいんだ。」と語るように、地理的にハンデのあるオーストラリアから世界を目指すという強い意志のもと、5SOSはYouTubeにカバー動画を投稿し続け、口コミで人気を拡大させていった。大きな転機となったのは、2013年のワン・ダイレクション【Take Me Home Tour】へのオープニング・アクト大抜擢。12か月間に及ぶワールドツアーの過密なスケジュールをこなしながら、デビュー・アルバムの制作をスタートさせた。世界中のレコード会社や事務所の争奪戦を経て、2013年、ユニバーサルミュージック傘下のキャピトル・レコードと契約。事務所は世界最大のボーイズ・グループ、ワン・ダイレクションと同じモデスト・マネジメントと契約（当時）。2014年発表のデビュー・シングル「She Looks So Perfect」はアルバム発売前にもかかわらず世界55ヶ国のiTunesで1位を獲得。続くデビュー・アルバム『5 Seconds of Summer』（2014）は、オーストラリア出身バンドのデビュー作として史上初の全米１位を記録する歴史的成功を収めた。
そして2025年11月14日、シングル「NOT OK」を引っ提げて、通算6枚目となるスタジオアルバム『Everyone’s A Star!』をリリース。常に進化を続けながらも、鮮烈なデビューを飾った10代から変わらない爆発的なエネルギーとパッションで世界を鳴らし続けるバンド。それが5 Seconds of Summerである。
