今、デフトーンズは、最も熱いバンドの一つとして注目と尊敬を集めている。その洗練された独創性あふれる音楽は比類のないもので、グラミー賞®を受賞した異端児と言えるでしょう。
1988年、北カリフォルニア出身の地元の友人同士によってサクラメントで結成されたバンドは、精力的にリリースを重ね、全世界で1,000万枚以上のレコードを売り上げ、100億回以上のストリーミング再生を記録し、世代を超えて人々に影響を与えてきました。彼らの作品には、2000年のRIAAダブル・プラチナ認定アルバム『White Pony』（グループ初のグラミー賞®を受賞）をはじめ、RIAAプラチナ認定アルバム『Diamond Eyes』（2010年）、『Koi No Yokan』（2012年）、『Ohms』（2020年）などが名を連ねています。
また、彼らの活動の中でも特に注目すべきものに、毎年恒例の「Dia De Los Deftones」がある。これは、バンドがキュレーションしヘッドライナーを務める、音楽と文化を丸一日かけて体験できる没入型フェスティバルで、サンディエゴのペトコ・パークでこれまでに6回開催されている。
2025年には、10枚目のフルアルバム『Private Music』をワーナー・レコードよりリリース。この作品で、デフトーンズは新たな芸術性のピークを迎えたことを告げ、彼らの音楽の普遍性を改めて証明するものとなった。
