アーカンソー州リトルロック出身。03年2月、映画「デアデビル」で、シングル「ブリング・ミー・トゥ・ライフ」がフィーチャーされ、チャートで１位を獲得。同年3月に発売されたデビュー・アルバム『フォールン』は発売わずか6週間でプラチナ・ディスクを獲得した。7月にはワールドワイド・デビュー、イギリスの「シングル１位／アルバム３位」という大ブレイクを筆頭に、ここ日本でも、オリコン洋楽チャート初登場１位にランクイン、日本ゴールド・ディスク大賞にも輝いた。
03年にグラミー賞でロック・アーティスト最多の５部門にノミネート、そのうちなんと2部門で受賞、翌04年も続けてグラミー賞にノミネートされる、という快挙を果たした。その後も寡作ながら、スタジオ・アルバムをリリースし続け、全世界で活躍を続けている。
...ようこそ。Ave Mujicaの世界へ
次世代ガールズバンドプロジェクト「BanG Dream!（バンドリ！）」から生まれたバンド・Ave Mujica（アヴェ ムジカ)。ゴシックに満ちた耽美でヘヴィな楽曲が持ち味。
バンドメンバーは、Gt.＆Vo. 佐々木李子（ドロリス/三角初華役）、Gt. 渡瀬結月（モーティス/若葉睦役）、Ba. 岡田夢以（ティモリス/八幡海鈴役）、Dr. 米澤茜（アモーリス/祐天寺にゃむ役）、Key. 高尾奏音（オブリビオニス/豊川祥子役）。
2023年6月に初の単独公演を開催。その後も精力的にライブ活動を行い、昨年LaLa arena TOKYO-BAYにて1万人規模の2DAYS公演を即完売させるなど、アリーナクラスの公演でも軒並みSOLD OUTを記録。
2026年4月からは全国4都市を巡るLIVE TOURを開催し、こちらもチケットは全てSOLD OUT。8月にLIVE TOURの追加公演として開催される台北での2DAYS公演のほか、10月には京王アリーナ TOKYOでの単独公演2DAYSを控える。
昨年1月よりプロジェクトのTVアニメ新シリーズ「BanG Dream! Ave Mujica」が放送され、2027年1月からはアニメの続編が日本テレビ系全国30局ネットにて地上波放送予定。
